Bala Balachandran began his teaching career in 1960 while a graduate student at Annamalai University, India. In 1967 he moved to the University of Dayton and in 1971, to Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, where he taught management courses while working on his doctorate. In 1973 he joined the Kellogg School of Management faculty. He was Chairman of the Department of Accounting Information and Management from 1979 - 1983. In 1984 he was appointed Professor of Accounting Information and Management and was Director of the Accounting Research Center from 1985-2006.
Professor Balachandran's teaching interests include managerial accounting, auditing, management information systems, and mathematical programming. He is one of three Kellogg faculty members who started the Information Resource Management Program (IRM) at Northwestern in 1974. He has authored more than 55 research articles and is currently writing a managerial accounting textbook with emphasis on cost management in an automated manufacturing environment. He is department editor in accounting for Management Science, associate editor for The Accounting Review and on the editorial boards of Contemporary Accounting Research, and the Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance.
Professor Balachandran's research deals with performance evaluation, cost management, audit planning, allocation models, and forecasting. His recent work includes auditors' legal liability and game theoretic cost allocation models with transfer pricing. His work has earned numerous scholastic honors, awards, and fellowships, and he serves as a consultant to senior management in industry, as well as to the U.S. Air Force, in the areas of accounting, forecasting, and strategic decision support systems. He has provided executive education for various companies and the government and is the program director for "Managing Cost Information for Effective Strategic Decisions," a three-day program conducted at the James L. Allen Center each year during the spring and fall.
Mohan GopalakrishnanAssociate Professor

Mohan Gopalakrishnan is an award-winning researcher with a wide range of interests. His work has explored global supply chain risk management, health care operations management, non-profit humanitarian logistics management, web-congestion and technology capacity management, product design and target costing, pricing and revenue management, “purchase-cards” and inventory management, project management, ware housing and distribution management, and manufacturing planning and control.
His work has been widely cited and published in leading journals, including Journal of Supply Chain Management, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Operational Research, European Journal of Industrial Engineering, International Journal of Information Management, Leadership Quarterly, and Management Science. His projects have been funded by the National Science and Engineering Research Council – Quebec, the Seagram Foundation, and American Express Global Technologies, among others.
His teaching focuses on global operations and supply-chain management, business-process excellence management, lean and six-sigma management, project management, and technology management and he has won multiple awards for “Outstanding Teaching Excellence.” Prior to joining ASU in 1998, Gopalakrishnan held a faculty position in Decision Sciences and MIS at Concordia University, Canada, and previously taught at IIT-Chennai, Great Lakes Institute of Management, and IIM-Ahmedabad. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Madras in India, and his master’s and doctorate at the University of Alabama.

David Malone joined the faculty of Weber State University in 2007. He is a professor of accounting at the Goddard School of Business & Economics. He previously taught at University of Wyoming, University of Idaho and most recently at Texas Tech University. He earned a PhD in accounting in 1987 from University of Arkansas, and he has his BBA and MBA from Texas State University. Malone primarily teaches financial and managerial accounting.
Malone’s current research interests are accounting for environmental sustainability and target costing. He has published in a wide variety of journals on topics ranging from financial reporting to corporate social responsibility to accounting information systems. He has served as chair of the Trueblood Seminars Committee of the American Accounting Association, sponsored by the Deloitte & Touche Foundation. He is currently active as a member of and participant in the Consortium for Advanced Management – International, working with their Environmental Sustainability Interest Group.

Dr. Shahid Ansari is Emeritus Professor at Babson College and California State University Northridge. He previously served as Provost of Babson College (2008-2013) and then as CEO of Babson Global, a boot strapped entrepreneurial start-up owned by Babson College (2013-2018).
Dr. Ansari received his Ph.D. in Accounting and Organizational Behavior from Columbia University. He has been a faculty member at UCLA, NYU, the Naval Postgraduate School and California State University Northridge and Babson College. He has also been a visiting professor at INSEAD, France, Macquarie University, Australia and Pretoria University, South Africa, and USC, Rice University and Darden School, University of Virginia.
Dr. Ansari has won several awards and honors for distinguished teaching during his career. The Consortium for Advanced Management International (CAM-I) awarded Dr. Ansari the prestigious Bob Bonsack Award for Distinguished Contribution to the Advancement of Cost Management for his thought leadership. He also received the Jim Bulloch Innovation in Management Accounting Education Award from the American Accounting Association.
Dr. Ansari's has extensive consulting and executive education experience with major national and multi-national firms including several years as a faculty for Shell Learning Center in Houston and The Netherlands. He has served on the Board of Directors of many new start-ups, some of whom have grown into significant mature businesses.

Dr. Paul Juras, CMA, CPAVander Wolk Professor of Management Accounting and Operational Performance Babso College
Paul Juras is the Vander Wolk Professor of Management Accounting and Operational Performance and past chair of the Accountancy and Law Division at Babson College. Previously he was a professor of accountancy at Wake Forest University. He earned both his BBA and MBA at Pace University and his Ph.D. from Syracuse University. He is a certified management accountant (CMA) and has a certified public accountant (CPA) license from New York. Professor Juras has experience in strategic management accounting. He has published articles and cases in many journals, including the Journal of Corporate Accounting and Finance, Issues in Accounting Education, The CPA Journal, and Strategic Finance. He has made numerous presentations at meetings of both the American Accounting Association (AAA) and the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA). In 2014 and in 2020, he received the IMA’s Lybrand Gold Medal, awarded to the author(s) of the outstanding article of the year published in Strategic Finance, and in 2015 he received the IMA’s R. Lee Brummet Award for Distinguished Accounting Educators.
Professor Juras teaches managerial accounting and strategic cost management courses and has taught in undergraduate program, Masters of Science in Accountancy, full-time MBA, evening MBA, and blended-learning MBA programs.
Paul dedicates most of his efforts outside the classroom to the IMA. He served as 2020-21 Chair of the Global Board of Directors, 2017-2019 Chair of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA) Board of Regents served a three-year term as the Chair of the IMA Research Foundation and ten years as an associate editor of the IMA Educational Case Journal.
